Hi Ms Jan Bradburn

I just recently started this course and going thru chapter 4's test came across this question , and I am having trouble with it since I feel like there is not enough information for me to answer it . I was provided with the answer but still I would like to know what am I missing ?

An insured has an HO-3, no endorsements, with following limits: A - $70,000, B - $7,000, C - $35,000, D - $14,000. The policy has a $250 deductible ($500 deductible for windstorm/hurricane). What is the amount payable (if any) when: "Due to a flood, the insured had to move out of the residence for two weeks, and incurred $600 in additional living expense"?
Select one:
A. Nothing is payable - the peril is generally excluded.
B. $1,500 is payable- the loss less the deductible (limit on furs applies to theft losses).
C. $100,000).
D. $4,500, but for full replacement cost settlement, the insured needed not less than 80% of the full replacement value as the coverage A limit ($125,000 x 80%
E. $3,500 is payable - $5,000 loss less $500 deductible, but the limit on property usually located at a secondary residence is limited to 10% of the Coverage C limit. Incorrect
F. $3,500 is payable. $5,000 less $500 deductible

The test indicates the correct answer is D , but still I have trouble finding out how they got to that conclusion . Thank you though ..

Elizabeth:

The answer is:

A. Nothing is payable - the peril is generally excluded.

This would be covered by a different type a FLOOD POLICY if the property has it.

Thank you Maritza  , but I am still confused since the test  indicates that the answer is D, could the test be wrong or are we missing something?

i believe they rearrange the answers - so "d" might not be the given answer  when you re-take the exam.

Given the scenario with "no endorsements" - flood is not covered! so "nothing" is the right answer.

confirm with the instructor and let me know otherwise.

The correct answer is "Nothing is payable - the peril is generally excluded."   David is correct - Flood is not a covered peril on a property policy.  It is a separate policy provided by NFIP.

this means that the course online answer is incorrect ?

how can we be graded based on incorrect answers by the course, that is scary.

Patricia,

There is obviously a system issue with this question.  For starters, there are too many possible responses.  Each question has four potential answers and this question has six so something isn't right with the formatting.

I'll make the systems corrections to this question today.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Patricia,

The lesson question has been corrected.  To clarify - these questions do not count toward your grade.  They are practice only.

Hello,

We have corrected the question in Quiz 4.  I changed two of the possible wrong answers - but left them in as deleting the extra answers has the potential to break the entire quiz.

I have verified that the correct answer is now marking as correct, and all other answers are marking as incorrect.  Of the 900+ attempts on this quiz, 107 attempts included this question.  Those attempts have been regraded and now only the actual correct answer is receiving credit.

The great thing about an online course with Instructors and technical staff interacting with students, is that when an error is found it can be quickly corrected, and the correction is live immediately, instead of waiting for the next version of the course to come out.

Thank you for your participation in this course, and please continue to bring your questions and concerns to the forum.
