David,

You are correct.  "Sinkhole" coverage is no longer mandatory in Florida and "Catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse" is now mandatory through FL statute.  This is shown as an endorsement on DP policies. Some companies no longer sinkhole coverage, but many companies will offer this coverage at the right premium.

The terminology "Catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse" replaced  the "term" sinkhole" and they are now two completely different coverages.

The course will be updated tomorrow to reflect the new endorsement and I appreciate you pointing this out.

Thanks - Jan

Somebody needs to update this entire program. I cant even believe you guys are permitted to give this course with such misinformation provided. The Department of Financial Services really needs to look into how these courses are written and being given.

Again today in the Unit 6 quiz, there is a question that indicates that sinkhole coverage is covered uner the Basic Form of Causes of Loss. This is incorect. This course needs to STOP using the term "sinkhole" period. It will only further confuse the students who dont know any better. How can someone become a licensed agent thinking that a sinkhole is covered??? Its just ubsurd. I think I want my insurance from that agent! Just WOW.

David,

I agree that the word sinkhole should no longer be used in this course and I will make sure it removed for the areas you have pointed out.  However, most students to this course are brand new to insurance and they, along with almost all insured, do not know the difference between sinkhole and catastrophic ground cover collapse.  Furthermore, the state has never really pointed this out in their study materials - other than to change the verbiage. In the scheme of passing the state exam, this is a really minor detail to correct, and in the scheme of selling property insurance in Florida - well enough said.  Who is selling propery insurance in Florida, with or without sinkhole or catastrophic ground cover collapse???

Your point is correct and well-taken, but, WOW-unlike sinkhole coverage is it not catastrophic!

Regards,

Jan
