Hey fellow 2-20s,
I took the state exam yesterday morning and passed on my first attempt!!! Some helpful tips for those of you close to finishing the course I wanted to pass along. Be sure to study Unit 17 as there were about 40-50 questions relating to Fl State Statutes and Regulations, not too challenging but a lot of information was taken from that section. It seems like the meat of the exam I had was made up a lot of Unit 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and some regulations about Health plan characteristics. Also be sure to study the Bonds/Surety unit too as I had quite a few questions from that section, and don't forget to know the dynamics of a policy...Declarations, Conditions, etc. The vocabulary review exam is a great tool to make sure you can identify all of those definitions and know what they mean! And not to forget, there were a few questions about the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act that was not in the current edition of the book I had from years 2015-2016 (not sure why that information is not in that edition).
Surprisingly the questions on the state exam were just as basic and general in my opinion, as the online final for the course final exam.
I did use an additional website I found online to help me study and the questions were almost identical to the way Pearson Vue and the testing centers write the state exam. I paid an extra $60 for 35 practice exams with 100 questions on them, and it really helped and paid off for me as I passed the state exam on the first attempt. I used http://www.insurance-schools.com as an additional study aid and they had an optional review pdf that broke down all of the similar unit sections to just the "meat" of information for an extra $20 (in my opinion, well worth it) as there was quite a bit of information that wasn't in the 2015-2016 general lines book I purchased.
I hope this helps the rest of you on your way to the 2-20! I'll see you on the other side!
