hello everyone!: I would like to share that after passing the state exam, I started to apply for  a job in the industry since I do not have experience working in insurance, and got lucky, since I get a job at Allstate and already appointed with them after passing their Allstate university and found and agency that gave me the opportunity to start without experience.

Yubisel,

Congratulations on your new job!  Many of the large insurers will hire agents with no prior insurance experience because they want to train the new sales rep to their company standards.  These are companies are fortunate to find licensed applicants.  It saves them the expense of paying pre-licensing costs.

Best of luck with your new job!

Jan

Jan: first of all, THANKS for all the feedback , your help was useful to me. what I have experimented already is that everyday is different with each customer and each situation unique, one thing i could share is that even though there is a standard manual, each company works with their own standards: for example: I learned that in an Allstate policy you can add up to 10 cars . while in an state farm policy by the other hand, you add only 1 car per policy. this last information I listened from an state farm agent but I am not really sure of accuracy.

Yubisel,

Congratulations! May I ask you sort of a personal question, what is their salary and commission pay, or is it just salary? And if you don't mind, where is this agency located? I got a job as well working for an agency that's a one man operation, older gentleman who is ready to retire, but it's good to have a backup, since I don't know what can happen in the near future. Thank you for the info in advance!

I started from the bottom which is customer service, to start getting experience . And since i did not had previous experience on the industry they offer me $30,000 to start + commision but the commision depends on how each agency works. I can tell from the month i have been working already it is very overwhelming at the beginning since it is a huge amount of information in so little time and you have to pass a 6 day allstate university training to learn their guidelines and the way they work before getting appointed with them. But with some experience you can increase your salary considerably. A friend of mine has been with allstate for 6 years and she is making between 60 to 70000 in salary.
