what is the best way to take this course? I just got my book 24 edition. Read the book unit then the online unit or the other way around. Also should I get the flashcards and study them along the way? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi "New Guy": Good luck on your course. I thought I could cut corners and study all the flash cards while doing studying the on-line material, but to my surprise, I had to go back and read the book after I took the final exam and failed it the first time. Don't fall into the same pit that I did. The more you read the book, the better it is for you as the on-line material is more or less a summary of the book. You can use the flashcard to reinforce what you learn. I hope this helps. Take care.

Efelin,

Thanks for sharing your study strategy with other students.  Your comments about reading the book are absolutely correct.

Congratulations on passing the state exam!

I just took the state exam yesterday and passed it on the first try. Here's what I did: after the course, reread the book over and over. I found that writing my own flash cards and taking several practice quizes and exams helped me to reinforce what I learned. If I got a question wrong, I was reading that section in the manual again.  Also, I listened to you tube episodes while at the gym to help with pointers and tips. Bottom line, you have to read the book. Good Luck everyone

Just a quick question, did you take either the 4-40 or 2-20 exam? I don't see how specific this forum might be to the course I'm currently taking, but I would imagine that you are talking about one of thos. Also, did you order through the Mycfo website suggested link, or search online for the book? Trying to get the right materials but best value, since I have a budget and a family. Thank you for your time and any response is appreciated.

Christine,

I applaud your approach to studying for the state licensing exam.  Often students study each unit and pass the unit exam.  The overall course score is in the 70's and they go on to struggle with the state exam and are surprised when they don't pass.

The 2-20 course/exam requires study time and completion of the online course is not a strong indicator of passing the state exam.  Online course completion together with serious studying will place you in a good position to pass the state exam on the first attempt.

KUDOS to you Christine and thank you for sharing your story with other learners on the same journey!
