State Exam Tips

So I took the state exam on Saturday and passed, however I thought it was very hard and totally different then what everyone told me it would be like. Some tips:

There are 55 questions on the Florida statutes. This is an entirey different section on the test, so definitely study the terms and concepts in the Florida statutes.

As for the rest, there were really no calculation questions and not as much personal auto as everyone had led me to believe.

I would study and know Commercial Property and General Liability, which is what majority of the test questions were based around. Pay close attention to the endorsements in each of those sections.

Worker's Comp also had a lot of questions. The other sections that I had a few questions were: crime and bonds.

Know what a mobile home endorsement is and what it encludes and excludes. I did not know anything about this in particular and had several questions on it.

Also know what the CFO is responsible for and what the OIR is responsible for.

If I can pass without studying majority of this, you all will be fine!

2-20 Students,

Erika, Congratulations on passing the state exam and thank you for sharing your experience with other 2-20 students in the Break Room.

I want to remind students that every 2-20 exam is different. There are hundreds of test questions and they are electronically scrambled each time a student sits down to take the exam so the number of different tests available to students is beyond my understanding of math!

I continue to hear that Florida Statutes are a heavy focus on the exam, but all students will not receive 55 statutes questions on their test. The same is true of auto coverage. One student may get 10 or 15 auto questions and a student sitting across the room may get 40. I have also had students tell me that Workers Compensation was heavily tested while other students have one WC question.

My point is to keep studying all areas of the course materials and you will be prepared for the state exam.

Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Is the State exam all multiple choice questions? Are there flash cards we can purchase to supplement this course to prep for the State exam?

I passed the State Exam last August 16. Yes. All are multiple choice questions. The time allowed to complete the test was 2 hrs 45 min, The FL statutes, rules, and regulations are important. Pay a lot of attention to Chapter 17 . It's important to understand all the concepts of every chapter. 150 questions total. When I took the exam, 50 questions had to do with the FL statutes, rules, and regulations.

When I purchased the GL Agent and Cust Rep Study Manual (green book), I purchased the Florida Insurance Exam Workbook (the book is blue) and flashcards. I practiced, and that helped. I wish you all the best.

Has anybody taken the Andy Beverly Florida Insurance 3 day crash prep course for the general lines 2-20 state exam? Do you feel it is helpful?

The Andy Beverly crash course was great!!! I did it via web conference. I credit passing the state test to that course. Worth every dollar!
