Health insurance and 220

Health insurance and 220

So this is what it says at Florida's Agent services website:

RESIDENT GENERAL LINES LICENSE

TYPE AND CLASS:
2-20 General Lines (Property, Casualty, Surety, Marine, Health and Miscellaneous Lines)

It does in fact say Health. The course work and test includes health insurance.

I am being told now by an insurance company that I can't get appointed with the 220.

Does anyone know how I can verify any of this information?

Here is what our company has been told directly from the office of Financial Services:

A 220 agent is appointed with a
P&C insurance company and may transact health insurance if the P&C
company also holds a line of authority for Health insurance.  A 220 agent
cannot be appointed for health only.

The lines of Health Insurance a
220 can sell are defined in Florida Statutes, 624.603 as, ““Health insurance” defined.—“Health insurance,” also known as “disability insurance,” is
insurance of human beings against bodily injury, disablement, or death by
accident or accidental means, or the expense thereof, or against disablement or
expense resulting from sickness, and every insurance appertaining thereto.
Health insurance does not include workers’ compensation coverages, except as
provided in s. 624.406(4).”; and miscellaneous can be found in 624.605(1)(q) as “q) Miscellaneous.—When
first approved by the office as not being contrary to law or public policy nor
covered by any other kind of insurance as defined in the code, insurance
against liability for any other kind of loss or damage to person or property,
properly a subject of insurance and not within any other kind of insurance as
defined in this code.”

Again, a 220 cannot get
appointed for health only.

Here is a link of licenses
available and you may scroll down to Health & Life include Variable Annuity
licenses, which these are the licenses that are primarily for health related
coverages.  I would recommend a 240 health only or a 215 Health & Life
with Variable Annuity.

Hope this helps clarify your
issues.

So, another great reason to love Florida, more bad info on their website.

Thanks much for the clarification. I ordered my 2-15 course and book today.
