Hi John, I have reviewed your work, and in your course most if not all questions in the quizzes are multiple choice like the state exam. The short answer questions are usually found in the lessons which, although they may show the grade, are not included in your final course grade. In the case of short answers in the lessons they are good practice, and usually don't require a comma unless it says so. They are also not usually counted off, no matter what you answer as it can be very frustrating to be counted off for mispellings etc. Instead it is very important to read the correct answer thoroughly to verify for yourself that we chose the same answer as you.
