Question,

Under Chapter 9 Lesson 1 I do not understand the MIB. I was under the impression the fair credit reporting act allowed an application to get a copy of the report furnished on their behalf to the insurance company on basis of the decision.

The quote “A most important thing to remember about the Medical Information Bureau is that while the information must be available under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to the applicant, they will never give information to laymen” Who is laymen? Can the applicants physician procided the MIB report to the applicant?

Please help me understand this a little more.

Thank you

You are correct. The MIB must provide the report to the applicant; however, they will only provide the info though a credible source. A physician is a credible source. An agent can request the report be sent to the applicant's physician then the applicant must make an appointment to get the info from the physician. That is my experience.
