Hello, I have been working to create this new more user friendly version of our Courses.  Please let me know what you think and if you find any problems.  I will be checking back frequently to make sure I address any concerns.

I am so glad.  We have run into a few issues in the last couple of months, and as students have sent me feedback directly I have made a few adjustments to make the courses move as smoothly as possible for students.  Plese let me know either directly through messaging, or through the forum if you run into a problem.

Having trouble with the quizzes in the homeowners section... The ones that review the page/ section... I do know if you get one wrong it says they are all wrong. But according to the information on the page I put every possible combination of answers and it always says its wrong. Then it happened again in ... For example, review home owners policy coverage c... Then review for limits of coverage for limits of coverage and exclusions... The coverage d review.... This is the 2nd time I am reviewing the unit chapter, and I didn't have this much trouble with the reviews... Please let me know if there is a problem with the quizzes (select yes/ no or right option) or if its just me not understanding the chapter... Thank you

Hey Sandra,

I have been going through the course and I have found a number of difficulties.  First, the course doesn't seem to be designed to help a new agent understand what they are doing.  Rather, it seems to have been designed for us to produce right answers.  Secondly, there are a number of grammatical errors scattered throughtout the course.  Finally, there are a number of times that questions are asked that are so abstract that it can take some time for the user to figure out what is being asked.

My suggestions would include reviewing the course objectives, making sure that they are sound and complete, aligning the assessments to the objectives and making sure that the assessments actually measure the learners understanding of the learning objectives and finally making sure that grammar and spelling issues are resolved.

I hope this helps.

Hi Kirk, I can tell from your post that you are a very analytical person. I would love to talk to you more about what you do when you aren't working with insurance.  We are constantly looking at ways to improve our courses.  Over the years OLT has maintained the highest passrates in Florida; sometimes our methods can seem counter-intuitive, but they do work.

You are correct that OLT's goal is to have students able to produce correct answers.  Our founder, Dr. Redding has documented through a great deal of research that, if you are only exposed to correct information, and if all feed back shows the correct information instead of telling you what you have done wrong, you are much more likely to retain only the correct information and pass the assesments, quizzes, final exams and state exams where required.

In many courses there is a required state exam, which is largely scenario based.  On the state exam, and in your insurance career, you are going to be asked to decide what to do, or what should be done, based on the knowledge you have gained in this course.  That is why some of our questions are abstract and some are more direct.  You need to have both types of knowledge and the ability to consider and come to the correct decisions.

As for grammatical errors, our authors tend to write as they speak and sometimes this translates to errors in grammar.  We try to fix them as we find them, and if you would like to email me any particualr errors you have noticed I will take care of them directly.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns about the course.  Our authors and staff will continue to work on making our courses the best, and giving our students the best experience possible.

Hi Tiffany, I see you were able to get into the final and did pretty good on it.  Congratulations on completing the course.
