I recently took a "practice test" online through PeasonVue where the question below was listed.  The answer was 30 hours.  I thought the answer would have been 24 hours.  24 hours was not even in the multiple choice answers!! I'm confused.  Everywhere else the answer has been 24 hours !!!

The question was listed as follows:

"After an insurance producer license is issued, a licensee MUST complete how many hours of approved continuing education courses every two years"

The choices were:  10, 15, 20 and 30 hours!

Please clear this up for me .... thank you very much!

Laura - Although it appears that, on the surface, you are correct, you should read Section 626.2815, which can be found on page 220 of the manual - 18th edition. Paragraph 3(a) does indeed indicate that 24 hours of CE is required. Readng slightly further shows that, of the required 24 hours,3 hours must be in ethics and 1 hour must be in premium discounts. Maybe they subtracted these 4 hours of specific coursework from the 24 hour requirement to get to their answer of 20 hours.  Furthermore, if you read paragrapg (b) then the 20 hour requirement comes into play. Perhaps they meant licensees with 6 or more years. As a suggestion, put your question directly to the instructor. Ms. Bradburn is great, and she will clarify it for you, if clarification is possible.

Thanks for your response.  Yes, I remember now about the ethics hours and premium discounts but that still doesn't match because the answer was 30 hours ha (not 20) ... so I don't get it!!  I will write to Jan like you suggested to clear this up!

Thank you very much!!!
