Hi,
I am trying which part of the CGL applies to the below question.
An appliance store sells a refrigerator to Mrs. Smith. The refrigerator is installed in Mrs. Smith's kitchen and after the installation had been completed, the refrigerator blows up catching fire and damaging the kitchen and injuring Mrs. Smith. The appliance store's Commercial General Liability policy covers?
The answers states it's: Bodily Injury to Mrs. Smith and damage to the kitchen but not the refrigerator.
Does this fall under the Completed Operations section of the CGL? If it does, can I get more clarification as to what exactly the Completed Operations covers?
Thanks!
Marianela,
The Commercial General Liability policy excludes damage to property that insured rents, owns or occupies. The CGL will cover the BI and PD resulting from a covered peril, but not the property itself.
In this case, the appliance store will likely be covered somewhere else for the refrigerator, but not under a CGL.
