I am very bad at testing, I get very nervous and start shaking and sweating real bad. Does anyone have any tips that would help me get through it?
I can relate; I think you are very very brave and smart to disclose to us that you suffer from test anxiety....here are some suggestons...some are obvious...
- Prepare, prepare, prepare....if you can master the material, your fears may be less
- Try taking practice exams, as many as you can, before the exam
- try to achieve a certain score on the practice exams before the real exam so you have confidence
- in most exams you usually have plenty of time so plan on taking breaks periodically.
- In the OLT, you can take your time, but remember u may get timed out so save your answers periodically...then you can take breaks and do things to relax...I like to walk around...or watch tv or play with my phone for a few minutes...I usually set the alarm on my phone for five minutes later so I don't completely forget the exam...haha
- if it's a state exam, again you usually have plenty of time...so if you talk to them before hand, they may allow you to bring your ipod or some other form of relaxation like a magazine or something..as long as they can make sure its not a cheating device..
- I avoid sugar, salt or carbs before I take exams, both tend to hype me up and make me somewhoat uncomfortable...I stick to neutral foods like egg whites, veggies, low sugar fruits and lots of water.
- I also take certain phrases/prayers with me that calm me down....that remind me not to worry....
Hope these help....
Angela,
You have nothing to worry about with the online course. Since there is no time limit, you have plenty of time. If you find yourself getting anxious, save your work and log out of the exam and relax. When you feel better you can continue with the course.

Hi! I just wanted to clarify before taking my final exam for the online course, you are allowed to log out and come back to it at any time? Also, how many questions is the final? I know the State exam is 150 and I still have plenty of time to prepare for that, but I am a full time student athlete who is currently getting ready for my other finals, as well and just want to make sure I give myself enough time and plan this out. Thanks!
Maddie
Hi Maddie,
The 2-20 course final exam is 50 multiple-choice questions. You can log out and come back into the exam. Be sure to save your work.
Good luck!
