On July 1, 2014, a Rule Change went into effect for FL Statute 626.732(1)(b) (referencing the 2-20 Property and Casualty / General Lines Pre-Licensing Course (INS007FL200), which required students taking the 2-20 online course to meet a 6-month Work Experience requirement in order to have their course completion recognized by the Florida Department of Financial Services for licensure. Because of a miscommunication with the Course Providers (State/Community Colleges), the Department decided not to enforce the 6-month requirement until July 1, 2015.

In March (2015), FLDFS began the process of eliminating the "6-month work experience requirement" with the introduction of HB1133 (our office has been closely following the process). Currently, the bill has passed both the FL House and Senate, and is in the que for the Governor to review for passage. Once signed into law, the statue would go into effect July 1, 2015, thus eliminating the six month rule.

With the June 30, 2015 deadline quickly approaching (grandfathering of the July 1, 2014 rule change), we encourage students to continue working in their courses. OnLine Training will update the blogs with any new developments we receive.

Students with additional questions are encouraged to contact the Florida Department of Financial Services.

Thank you for your time.
