State Final - Is a prep class needed?

State Final - Is a prep class needed?

I am scheduled to take the state final for my 2-20 license on March 7. I went for an interview yesterday and they explained to me that the state exam is difficult and I should take a prep class. I did research and looked online and I am not able to afford to take a prep class before I take the state exam. Has anyone taken the state exam without taking a prep class, just using the knowledge from the class and the study manual? Does anyone have any good tips?

Thank you!

Melynda, from experience in the insurance industry if you can study just from the manual ill say go ahead and do that now if you dont feel comfortable you can always take prep courses what exam are you doing 2044 or 220? do you have the 24th edition book ? that book is the latest i am taking my 2044 i have had a 440 for almost 10 years just know you can only take the state exam 5 times withing a 12 month period.

I am taking the course 440 conversion to 220 and I have been told that there is 165 questions and time of 2.75 hours to finish if you know the course you should be able to pass.
